Purpose: To document the established standards for determining degree
requirements and policies that apply to students’ completion of degree
programs and other awards.
Part 1: Effective Catalog Requirement
Subpart A: Students completing program requirements with consecutive
attendance during an academic year (fall and spring semester not including
summer) in four or fewer years may follow the catalog requirements in
effect at the time of their initial enrollment. Students may also designate
to change their catalog year of record to any succeeding catalog in effect
during their enrollment.
Subpart B: Students who do not enroll or take courses in the program in
consecutive semesters (fall and spring semester, not including summer)
or take longer than four years to complete program requirements may
follow any single catalog in effect during the four-year period preceding
the date they complete the program. Course options and degree plans
from initial enrollment are not guaranteed without consecutive enrollment
in the program or major.
Subpart C: Other implications to transfer and transfer agreements may be
impacted by a change in the catalog of record.
Part 2: Student Program Plan
Subpart A: Student program plans are created based on the catalog
requirements in effect at the time of their initial enrollment.
Subpart B: Changes to the catalog requirements of a certificate, degree, or
diploma must be approved by the Academic Affairs and Standards Council
and the college president. Students must be notified of changes to their
catalog requirements and offered options to allow them to complete their
certificate, degree, or diploma in the same time frame.
