REPEALED MARCH 2024 3.4 Make-up Testing and Test Proctoring

Purpose: To establish guidelines for testing procedures at Normandale Community College.

Part 1: Make-Up Testing is a service provided to Normandale Community College faculty and students

Make-up testing services are available to students who have a compelling reason, such as an illness or emergency, who cannot attend class for a test or quiz and for whom alternative testing with the instructor could not be arranged.

Subpart A: General testing information is available at the testing center, the course catalog, and on the Normandale Community College website.

Subpart B: Make-up testing is a part-time service and is not intended for regular assignments or tests, nor is it to be used as the primary testing option for online or face-to-face courses.

Subpart C: Faculty are responsible for implementing the process for a make-up test by following the procedures available in the Make-up Testing Center or on the website.

Subpart D: Academic honesty will be upheld; students involved in cheating will be referred to the Dean of Students and will not be allowed to use the testing service for at least one semester.

Part 2: Test Proctoring

Make-up testing staff will provide test proctoring services for distance learning and online learning courses from other colleges and universities.

Subpart A: Communication with the test proctor is initiated by the faculty from other colleges or their students.

Subpart B: Information for the procedures for outside test proctoring will be available on the Normandale Community College website and in the Make-up Testing Center.

Subpart C: A charge will be implemented for proctoring services provided for students from non-MnSCU institutions, which must be paid in the business office prior to having a test proctored.

Subpart D: Faculty are responsible for implementing the process for a proctored test by following the procedures available on the Normandale Community College website.

Subpart E: Academic honesty will be upheld; students involved in cheating will be referred to the Dean of Students who will contact the student’s home institution. The student will not be allowed to use the testing service for at least one semester.
