2.3 Hazing

Related MnSCU Board Policy: 3.6 Student Conduct

Purpose: Normandale Community College will not tolerate hazing toward any member of the College community on or off campus.

Part 1: Definition

Subpart A: Hazing is defined as an act which endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a person; subjects a person to public humiliation or ridicule; or destroys or removes public or private property for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition of continued membership in a student group or organization.

Subpart B: In all forms, hazing violates fundamental rights and the law.

Part 2: Disciplinary Action

Subpart A: Hazing is cause for disciplinary action through the Normandale Community College Code of Conduct procedures.

Subpart B: Sanctions include but are not limited to probation, suspension or expulsion.
