1.2 Administrative Organization
Related Minnesota State Board Policy: 1A.1 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Organization and Administration
Purpose: To document the organizational structure of the college's leadership.
Part 1: Principles
Subpart A: The college’s administrative structure is organized to accomplish the mission, vision and values of the organization.
Subpart B: The college’s administrative structure may occasionally change to adapt to changing conditions and in the best interest of college operations.
Part 2: Administration
Subpart A: The President is charged with providing overall leadership to the college. The President reports to the Chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The President may delegate specific authority to other officers of the college.
Subpart B: The following officers are directly responsible to the President:
Vice President of Academic Affairs
Vice President of Administration
Vice President of Student Affairs
Vice President of People & Culture
Vice President of Advancement
Chief of Staff & Strategic Initiatives Director
Subpart C: The President’s Cabinet is comprised of the Vice Presidents and officers listed in Subpart B above and serves to: (1) Advise and assist the President regarding important decisions that impact the college, including those matters that align with Minnesota State policies and procedures; (2) Create and sustain an equity-minded and student-centered organizational culture; and (3) Develop, nurture, and facilitate collaborative decision-making through inclusive and purposeful communication and the effective allocation of resources throughout the college as a consultative body that makes recommendations to the President.
Subpart D: The Administrative Council is comprised of the President, Cabinet, Deans, and Associate Vice Presidents, and other direct reports to the Cabinet at the President’s discretion. The Council’s purpose is to reduce silos and ensure the college makes timely progress toward its strategic and operational goals. Administrative Council meetings are a venue to share information, collaborate, and provide a comprehensive view of institutional needs and operations. The members of the Administrative Council serve as advisors to the President and Cabinet.
Part 3: Organization
Subpart A: Normandale Community College is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
Subpart B: Within each division, there are subdivisions and departments, each generally led by a Dean, Associate Vice President, or Director. These are reflected in the organizational charts maintained in real time on the Employee Exchange and periodically updated on the college’s external facing website.
