TRIO Student Support Services
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a U.S. Department of Education grant-funded program that helps students achieve goals of academic persistence, academic performance and degree completion. Five TRIO SSS success coaches advise a total of 264 students each year.
Eligibility Requirements
Admittance to TRIO SSS is based on the following criteria:
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident, as determined by eligibility for federal financial aid
- Intending to graduate from Normandale and/or transfer to earn a four-year degree
- Pursuing a first bachelor's degree
- Be in good academic standing and enrolled in at least 8 credits at Normandale
- Interested in working closely with a TRIO SSS coach to achieve academic goals
Additionally, all participants must identify as one or more of the following:
- First generation to go to college, meaning neither parent has a four-year degree
- Low income, often indicated by being a federal Pell grant recipient
- A student with a disability
