Professional academic advisors and counselors are available to assist students with academic concerns and planning. Counselors are also available to meet with students regarding personal and career counseling.
Academic Advising
Academic advising helps students reach their educational goals. Normandale advisors and counselors help students explore majors, understand degree requirements, register for courses, plan for graduation and transfer, and navigate course concerns.
All degree-seeking students will be assigned to an academic advisor after initial registration, typically by academic interest or program.
Students should visit www.normandale.edu/advising for more information or to schedule an appointment.
Personal Counseling and Mental Health Services
The Advising, Counseling & Career Center provides a confidential setting where a student may discuss concerns and achieve a better understanding of themselves - their feelings, attitudes and capabilities.
- Our counselors provide a holistic approach to student development, focusing on the student’s academic, career or personal concerns. Often these problems are interrelated. Counselors can work with students on any issues that get in the way of college success.
- Our licensed clinical psychologist is able to help students with a number of concerns, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, ADHD and more.
Mental health assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, consultation and referral are available to all enrolled Normandale Community College students.
Additional information and appointment scheduling are available at www.normandale.edu/counseling.
In addition to Normandale counseling and mental health services, enrolled students also have access to Mantra Health, a digital mental health provider. Through Mantra Health, students have free access to self-care courses, emotional wellness coaching, peer-to-peer support through Togetherall, up to 12 sessions of therapy, on-demand emotional support through ConnectNow, and crisis support.
Services are virtual and no cost to students. More information is available at www.normandale.edu/mantrahealth.
Career Development
A variety of assistance is available to help students explore career options, develop career goals and explore alternatives. Services available include career counseling, major and career exploration, career assessments, and job search tools. Counselors also offer a one-credit course, CCD 1170 Career Exploration.
